For further information on the Swan Guildford Historical Society Inc, visit our website at: About the Role We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable and experienced Curator to join our team in a part‑time capacity (three days a week). For detailed information please see the Job Description below. About You We are looking for a dynamic, organised, self‑motivated individual who loves working in a positive team environment, enjoys working with volunteers and wants to make a difference by preserving and promoting history. Eligibility to Apply To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have: A valid working Visa (for fixed‑term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a Visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application; and A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment (as per the Department's Police Record Screening Policy). We also require the following: A current 'C' Class drivers' licence, or equivalent; and A current Working with Children Check. Job Description Reporting Relationships Position reports to: President, Swan Guildford Historical Society Positions reporting to this position: Head of Artefacts, Head of Costumes, Head of Library, Head of Images, Keeper of the Gaol Purpose of the Position Documentation and management of the Society's collection(s). Development of public programmes, particularly exhibitions and educational tours. Statement of Duties Documentation and management of the Society's collection(s). Research and development of grants and public programmes, particularly exhibitions and educational tours. Management of collection stores. Facilitation of appropriate access to collection and information. Conduct of significance assessments. Training and supervision of direct reports. Representation of the Society in community and professional networks. Routine reporting requirements. Other duties as required with respect to the scope of the position. Work Related Requirements Tertiary qualification in relevant field. Demonstrated primary research skills. Knowledge, and experience, in contemporary management of historical and/or cultural collections. Skills and knowledge in the development of contemporary museum exhibitions and other museum interpretive programmes. Knowledge and ideally contemporary experience of significance assessments. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, to share relevant information with colleagues, and to train and supervise direct reports and volunteers and practicum students. Higher degree or Honours in Australian History or closely related field. Museum Studies or related qualifications and training in the interpretation and management of history collections. Experience in the use of museum databases, particularly the MOSAIC Collection Management System. Contemporary experience in relation to the purpose of the position.
