We are seeking a dedicated Lead Civil Engineer to join our dynamic Brisbane team, driving the civil discipline across complex, multi‑disciplinary detailed design projects in the mining and resources sector. This leadership role is pivotal in delivering best practice designs, ensuring alignment with project objectives, Wave standards, and client expectations. The ideal candidate brings extensive civil engineering experience, with a strong focus on technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with clients and cross‑functional teams to achieve exceptional, high‑quality, and compliant project outcomes. Key Responsibilities Lead the civil design scope across detailed engineering projects. Ensure civil designs comply with Australian Standards, client specifications, safety, and environmental requirements. Actively participate in risk analysis, design reviews, and operability studies to ensure safe and efficient designs. Manage and mentor junior engineers and designers. Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and internal discipline leads to align deliverables and resolve design issues. Provide civil support during procurement, fabrication, and commissioning phases. Undertake site visits as required to support study and project work. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the mining and resources sector to expand Wave's project portfolio. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients to foster long‑term partnerships. Collaborate with the business development team to prepare proposals, presentations, and bids for new projects. Qualifications & Experience Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised institution. 8+ years of experience in civil design within mining and resources, preferably within a consultancy setting. Demonstrated experience leading civil teams and managing discipline deliverables. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills (both written and verbal). Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng / RPEQ / AusIMM) – highly regarded.
