Overview Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc - supported by Cockburn Volunteer Centre – Success WA Would you like to provide companionship and comfort to residents who are in palliative conditions with no family members? Southern Cross Care (SCC) is looking for No One Dies Alone (NODA) Volunteers for the Frank Prendergast House in Success. The NODA volunteer programme brings compassionate volunteers alongside aged-care residents who are in the end-stage of palliative care and accompanies them at the bedside until they pass away, so that no one dies alone. Requirements for this role Own a smart phone to download the app used to book volunteer shifts. Receive training on how to use the app. Need to have a current email address for communications with Southern Cross Care. Will need to be able to respond to shift requests at short notice. Understand that shifts will be 24/7. Notify Southern Cross Care if they have had a personal death in the last 6 months. Key Tasks Provide compassionate service to the community and build friendship with residents and possibly with their family (if available). Work side by side with other roles such as pastoral care, nursing care, etc. About Southern Cross Care (SSC) SSC provides support, care and accommodation for a full life. The SCC Group contribute to social, health and economic development by enabling the delivery of integrated services in our community for the increasingly complex health, care and accommodation needs of our aging population and those living with mental illness in Western Australia. Frank Prendergast House (FPH Residential Aged Care) and Success Village (Independent Living Units). Category Seniors & Aged Care Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Type Of Work Companionship & Social Support, Seniors & Aged Care Time Required The programme will run on a roster basis. We would ask each volunteer to commit to a 3-hour shift for any resident. Additional shifts can be allocated upon request and after assessment of the volunteer. The roster is on a 24-hour period/7 days a week. NODA Volunteers will be notified via text messaging (and sometime on short notice) and can OPT IN.
