Myn Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Australia Mechanical Fitter (Fixed Plant) Location: Western Australia Position Title: Mechanical Fitter (Fixed Plant) About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and safety‑driven Mechanical Fitter to join our dynamic maintenance team at our processing plant operations in Australia. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of our fixed plant equipment, ensuring maximum operational availability and contributing directly to our production targets. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong mechanical background, especially those with additional skills in welding or fabrication. Key Responsibilities Execute planned and unplanned maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a range of fixed plant equipment including crushers, conveyors, slurry pumps, screens, and thickeners. Diagnose mechanical faults, identify potential failures, and perform timely repairs to minimize production downtime. Assist with the installation, alignment, and commissioning of new mechanical components and systems. Perform basic welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks to a high standard as required. Work collaboratively with other trades, including electricians and instrumentation technicians, to support multidisciplinary tasks. Adhere strictly to all site safety procedures, environmental policies, and quality standards. Accurately complete maintenance reports, work orders, and documentation in our maintenance system. Work effectively within a roster/shift arrangement to ensure 24/7 plant coverage and reliability. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Essential A relevant trade qualification (Mechanical Fitter / Heavy Diesel Fitter). Proven post‑apprenticeship experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a fixed plant environment within mining, quarrying, or heavy industry. Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive systems. Demonstrated commitment to safety with a clear understanding of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and hazard identification. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and manuals. Must be able to work effectively within a team and autonomously. Highly Regarded Experience with or tickets in welding (e.g., Arc, MIG, TIG) and fabrication. Exposure to working alongside or supporting electrical trades. High‑Risk Work Licenses (e.g., EWP, Forklift, Dogging/Rigging). Confined Space and Working at Heights tickets.
