Are you someone with lived experience who is passionate about supporting people on their recovery journey? At Lives Lived Well, a not-for-profit organisation, we’re looking for a Peer Support Worker to join our dynamic and high-performing team in Dubbo. About our Service Our multidisciplinary team of 12 staff provide free alcohol and other drug counselling and support services to people aged 18 and up. We aim to provide our clients with a safe and comfortable environment to support them in developing their own road to recovery. About the Role As a Peer Support Worker, you’ll draw on your lived experience with substance use, treatment, and recovery to provide unique and invaluable support to others on their journey. You’ll offer peer-to-peer support, recovery mentorship, and advocacy that’s grounded in empathy and understanding—distinct from clinical care. Your day might involve processing referrals, assisting walk-in clients with service entry, accompanying clients to appointments like Centrelink or GP visits, and building strong community connections to enhance referral pathways. You’ll also play a vital role in community engagement—whether it’s attending events like NAIDOC Week, supporting school-based mental health initiatives, or joining a game of street footy to connect with young people in meaningful ways. This part-time position (21 hours per week) with flexible hours, typically between 8am to 4pm. We're open to discussing a schedule that works best for you. The gross hourly pay rate ranges between $37-$40 per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging options and will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s level of skills and experience. What we are looking for In this position you will share our passion and commitment to service delivery excellence, and bring the following skills and attributes : Lived experience relevant to the role and the ability to role-model and be relatable by appropriately sharing parts of your own journey and experiences Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in working considerately and non-judgmentally with people from diverse backgrounds, experiencing complex challenges Self-managing and able to work autonomously Active listening skills and the ability to lead and guide emotional conversations Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility – this is a newly created role with room to grow and evolve—perfect for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and embraces change. Strong relationship building skills - You’ll need the ability to connect with a diverse range of stakeholders and build rapport quickly and authentically. Current Australian Drivers Licence and the ability to gain a Working With Children Check (Blue Card) Willingness to travel locally for appointments and events Having completed or nearing completion of a Certificate IV in AOD, Mental Health, Peer Support or other relevant qualification would be highly regarded.
