Hospital Assistant – Catering (Hospital Assistant Grade 3) Location: Mater Mental Health Centre, Waratah Employment Type: Permanent Full‑time (38 h/week) Remuneration: $60,799.51 per annum + Superannuation + Salary Packaging Applications close: Sunday, 16th November 2025 About the role As a Hospital Assistant – Catering you will support patient care by delivering high‑quality food services. You will be rostered within the Mater Mental Health Centre and contribute to patient wellbeing by ensuring meals are prepared, handled and delivered with care, hygiene and attention to detail in accordance with Food Safety standards. You will provide a compassionate, reliable and respectful service as part of a team that values quality care. Responsibilities Prepare, handle and deliver meals for patients and staff following food safety and hygiene regulations. Work with clinical and non‑clinical staff to coordinate meal deliveries and special dietary requirements. Maintain accurate records of food stock, losses and waste, and report any issues to the manager. Support the implementation of patient support services and outcome monitoring. Adhere to WHS principles and support a safe working environment. Qualifications Experience working in a hospital or aged care food services environment. Strong understanding of food safety practices and WHS principles. Effective communicator with a commitment to customer service. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet service needs. Current food handling accreditation or willingness to obtain.
