About You You have completed a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management and have worked recently in a turf management or green keeping role - if you have cricket wicket experience this will be looked upon very favourably. You are proud of the knowledge you have gained around turf grass species, their growth habits and maintenance requirements. The experience you have safely operating, servicing and proactively maintaining turf care equipment and machinery, such as mowers, aerators and sprayers will go a long way to helping you succeed in this role. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and providing guidance to apprentices or junior staff. Above all, you are a team player who has proven abilities to collaborate effectively with a high performing team and work well under pressure. About the role As a Turf Maintenance Team Leader, you will be key in maintaining and enhancing turf areas ensuring they remain lush, healthy, and resilient. Based at Cricket Central in Silverwater, this hands‑on role involves maintaining and enhancing turf areas, implementing sustainable practices, and delivering exceptional results. Responsibilities Assist in preparing surfaces for elite team training, community use, and scheduled competitions or events Support planning and delivery of wicket rotation, outfield renovations, and seasonal maintenance schedules Perform regular maintenance tasks such as mowing, aerating, and topdressing to uphold the quality and playability of turf surfaces. Undertake pitch preparation including scarifying, rolling, mowing, marking, watering, and covers management Execute post‑match wicket recovery and rotation processes to ensure surface sustainability throughout the season Maintain outfield areas to ensure consistent, safe, and visually presentable playing surfaces Undertake regular mowing, irrigation, fertilisation, pest and disease management, and turf renovation activities Monitor turf health and proactively address issues such as pests, diseases, and compaction through appropriate cultural and chemical practices. Implement sustainable turf management practices, including water conservation strategies, weed and pest management techniques. Operate and maintain specialised turf equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety. Collaborate with the landscaping team to coordinate maintenance schedules, prioritise tasks, and deliver exceptional results. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their expectations, address concerns, and provide turf care recommendations.
