About the opportunity The Psychology Registrar Program at Mercy Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (MMH&WS) is a two‑year training program that offers a diverse range of experiences for new graduate psychologists entering the workforce. The program is full‑time (including ADO) for a fixed term of 2 years, commencing February 2026. Diverse and comprehensive skill‑building rotations across adult inpatient, community and rehabilitative services, and specialist perinatal inpatient/outpatient services. The opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of the consumer journey through mental health services. Opportunities to build competence and confidence as a psychologist in an enthusiastic and nurturing multidisciplinary team environment. Reduced caseload to give time to focus on learning and development – ample opportunities to fulfil all the requirements of a Clinical Psychology Registrar program and subsequent endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist. Regular supervision, paid leave for professional development, protected study time, and peer consultation and support from other psychology registrars and psychologists working at MMH&WS. Key responsibilities Knowledge of the discipline and understanding of case formulation in planning evidence‑based treatment. Provision of specialist psychological assessments, interventions, individual and group therapy, with a focus on recovery, person‑centred care, and effective outcomes for adult consumers and their families. Participation in individual and group supervision, and active commitment to professional development as per the requirements of the Psychology Board of Australia Registrar Program. Active participation in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribution to formulation, diagnosis and treatment planning. Promote a psychologically safe work environment and contribute to service improvement initiatives. Work within scope of practice, prioritise safety, wellbeing and professional growth. What you'll bring A minimum of a master's degree in clinical psychology from an APAC accredited postgraduate course. Registration with AHPRA as a psychologist with eligibility to enter a Registrar Program for area of practice endorsement in clinical psychology. We will accept applicants expected to obtain general registration by the end of January 2026. Commitment to working within a recovery‑oriented framework, with a compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective consumer care. Excellent clinical, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem‑solve. The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment. You will also be required to provide evidence of, or be in the process of obtaining: A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
