Location: NSW – including metropolitan, regional and remote areas Reports To: Project Manager Company Overview C&J Group Pty Ltd delivers construction, building compliance, asset assessment and maintenance services throughout New South Wales. The company supports public and private sector building programs, including housing, refurbishments, upgrades and safety compliance projects. C&J Group operates under ISO-accredited quality and safety systems. Position Summary The Building Inspector is responsible for conducting detailed building inspections, compliance assessments and PAS condition evaluations across residential and government assets. The role ensures construction works and existing structures comply with building regulations, codes of practice, approved plans, specifications and applicable standards. The position requires strong knowledge of building codes, construction techniques, defect identification, and regulatory compliance. PAS inspection responsibilities are integrated into the role, with a focus on building condition observations, visible defect identification, documentation and reporting. Key Duties & Responsibilities Inspect construction works, materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with specifications. Interpret building plans, construction drawings, building regulations and standards. Inspect building works in progress to verify adherence to approved plans, specifications and building requirements. Monitor that proper construction techniques, materials and approved methods are used. Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, building progress, defects and any departures from approved drawings or specifications. Assess building plans submitted for approval and provide compliance guidance. Provide advice to contractors, supervisors, tenants and clients on building matters, compliance requirements and rectification recommendations. Conduct PAS condition inspections following relevant guidelines. Identify and document visible defects, deterioration, safety concerns and amenity-related observations. Capture photographic and written records for PAS reporting. Mandatory Requirements PAS Inspection Certification Demonstrated experience in building inspection, compliance assessment or construction quality roles. Knowledge of building codes, construction methods and inspection processes. Valid Australian driver’s licence and ability to travel across NSW.
