About Vicinity Vicinity manages a portfolio of retail destinations across Australia, delivering innovative customer experiences.Assistant Operations Manager – Overview The Assistant Operations Manager supports the Operations Manager and the centre team to ensure safety, compliance, cleanliness, emergency preparedness and overall operational efficiency. This role fosters a welcoming environment for staff, contractors, retailers and customers, while managing budgets and cost optimisation. Contract: 12‑month maternity leave initial term. Key Responsibilities Manage operational contracts, ensuring value for expenditure and maintaining documentation. Support day‑to‑day supplier management for cleaning, security, HVAC and vertical transport. Maintain maintenance logs and contribute to capital project delivery. Ensure safety compliance, emergency procedures and essential safety measures. Implement ESG initiatives focused on energy efficiency and sustainability. Build relationships with contractors, retailers, local council and emergency services. Assist tenant onboarding and manage operational issues raised by retailers. Represent the centre in meetings with National Operations and relevant forums. Administrative Duties Prepare reports, forecasts and budget documentation. Assist in the administration of Vision, Strategy & Action Plans. Oversee risk registers and ensure documentation for HSE audits. Qualifications & Experience Prior experience in an operational support role within a retail or mixed‑use property environment. Proven ability to contribute to project delivery within budget and timeframe constraints. Familiarity with safety audits, risk registers and emergency procedures. Experience managing service contracts, including cleaning and security. Demonstrated ability to support cost management and operational planning activities. Key Knowledge Contractor management and compliance processes. MS Office, particularly Excel. Building services and maintenance scheduling for plant and equipment. Sustainability practices and their integration into operational strategies. Core Competencies Strong attention to detail and commitment to high operational standards. Ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Willingness to develop leadership capabilities and support team development. Clear communicator with the ability to document and report on operational performance. Professional approach with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability. Why Vicinity?
