Selection Criteria

Applicants are requested to present a written response to the key selection criteria below.

SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the implementation of school priorities, and the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum.

SC2 Demonstrated ability to lead the planning and implementation of high impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs. Demonstrated ability to support teachers to evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.

SC3 Demonstrated exemplary ability to monitor and assess student learning at a class, cohort or whole-school level and use this data to lead improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to support others in using data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

SC4 Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader school community focused on student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

SC5 Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and support colleagues to adopt these behaviours and attitudes. Demonstrated ability to reflect upon their own, others and whole-school practice and contribute to the provision of whole-school professional learning.

SC6 Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and pedagogy of Big Picture Learning.

Role

The Leading Teacher ¿ Learning Support will provide leadership in identifying and implementing initiatives for improving learning and achievement for every student. The key focus areas will be tier 3 interventions for students with identified deficits in literacy, numeracy, and personal social capability. The Leading Teacher ¿ Student Support will provide leadership for the Disability Inclusion team and teachers supporting students who are experiencing significant problems in learning essentials. They will facilitate professional learning to assist staff to develop and embed highly effective learning and teaching, feedback and assessment practices in order to improve student learning consistent with the School¿s Big Picture Learning pedagogy.

The Leading Teacher ¿ Learning Support will promote a culture of high expectations for students, staff and parents, and support this by taking a leading role in the implementation of school and Department of Education policies and frameworks including the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes.

The Leading Teacher ¿ Learning Support will work closely with the other members of the school¿s leadership teams, Disability and Inclusion Coordinator, Tutors, Learning Support staff, and classroom teachers to provide a coherent and strategic focus for professional learning and development of teaching practice across the school.
