About the role As Governance & Compliance Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring the City operates with transparency, accountability, and confidence. This role exists to safeguard decision-making and build trust—by embedding systems and practices that uphold integrity and reduce risk. Your contribution will help create a foundation where informed decisions thrive, voluntary compliance is part of the culture, and the community can rely on the strength of our governance. You’ll achieve this by working collaboratively across departments and with elected members, turning governance principles into practical solutions that support everyday operations. From shaping processes that make compliance seamless to championing continuous improvement, you’ll influence how decisions are made and ensure they stand up to scrutiny—strengthening trust in both our organisation and the community we serve. Key responsibilities Drive compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Coordinate audit and risk activities to strengthen resilience. Manage insurance processes and provide informed advice. Maintain systems that embed transparency and accountability. Champion good governance and continuous improvement. What we’re looking for We’re seeking a governance professional who combines sound judgment with strong organisational and interpersonal skills. You’ll bring: Experience in governance, risk management, audit, and compliance. Knowledge of legislation and governance frameworks, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements. Strong communication skills to provide clear advice and prepare accurate documentation. Attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. Confidence working independently and collaboratively to deliver outcomes.
