For more information on the Shoalhaven Region you can visit the following website: Shoalhaven Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy rural hospital which employs over 1,000 staff and is the main acute care hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. Shoalhaven Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub-acute Mental Health Unit. Shoalhaven Hospital is currently undergoing a $438 million redevelopment. What you’ll be doing This position is for Critical Care trainees who are looking for a career in Critical Care and will provide a 6 month ICU at Wollongong Hospital and 6 Month Anesthesia at Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital (Nowra). The Intensive Care Trainee will work under the supervision of Specialist Intensive Care Physicians, assisting to manage, diagnose and treat patients with severe medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatric illness. This may include the management of deteriorating and seriously ill patients outside the intensive care unit as well as the intra-hospital transport of critically ill patients. This position may suit a trainee with relatively little experience (PGY3) to more experienced trainees (pre‑fellowship). The experienced trainees may already have post graduate qualifications in critical care, Anaesthesia or Emergency Medicine. More experienced Trainees might be competent with invasive lines, intubation, ventilator support and managing critically ill patients with multi‑organ failure. The Trainee will participate in a rotating roster of days, evenings, nights and weekends and may rotate to Anaesthetics and / or Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital (which meets the CICM training requirement for rural Intensive Care). This position is accredited for ICU training by the CICM.
