About the role Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking an Education and Vocational Mentor to join our team and provide flexible, trauma-informed education and learning support to young people living in Residential Out-of-Home Care. This role is all about helping young people re-engage with education, strengthen their learning pathways, and build confidence through supportive relationships and creative learning strategies. What You will Do Deliver one-on-one and small group tutoring in literacy, numeracy, general studies, and life skills. Coordinate tutoring services, alternative education programs, and vocational pathways. Develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) or Documented Education Plans (DEPs) in collaboration with young people and key stakeholders. Use creative, interest-based approaches (art, music, sports, trades) to engage and motivate learners. Build strong, positive relationships that promote resilience and self-esteem. Advocate for young people’s educational rights and ensure cultural safety and inclusion. Maintain accurate records, contribute to care plans, and support quality improvement initiatives. About You A four-year bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, or similar. Understanding of trauma-informed practice and youth development. Ability to work with vulnerable, at-risk, and culturally diverse young people. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping. Cultural competence when working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people. Australian citizenship or permanent residency. Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain). Current Australian Driver’s Licence. First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
