South32 Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia Production Chemist Laboratory South32 seeks a qualified laboratory professional to support sustainable mining operations at GEMCO. About GEMCO Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open‑cut mine responsible for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. The Anindilyakwa people are the traditional owners of the land and have worked alongside GEMCO since 1963. What South32 offers Ability to purchase up to four weeks of additional annual leave. About the Role This permanent position is on a 7:7 day shift roster, FIFO from Darwin, Cairns or Brisbane. The role ensures high‑quality laboratory performance, maintains robust quality systems, and supports reliable sampling, testing and analytical processes across the operation. Key Deliverables Maintain and improve laboratory procedures, systems and documentation. Troubleshoot, maintain and support laboratory instruments and sampling equipment. Provide technical guidance to laboratory colleagues and offer shift cover when required. Support accurate, compliant testing that meets ISO/IEC 17025 and internal quality standards. About You You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Applying strong quality, safety and risk awareness in laboratory environments. Using sound judgement, initiative and problem‑solving to resolve technical issues. Building collaborative relationships and delivering clear, supportive communication. Managing workload proactively, adapting to changing priorities and maintaining accuracy. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in chemistry or a relevant field. Manual driving licence.
