Make-A-Wish - Volunteer Communications Coordinator - Canberra Make-A-Wish® creates life‑changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We work with sick kids, their families and medical teams to grant unforgettable wishes like making unicorns fly, sending kids to the moon to and even helping Australia's youngest ever cricket captain don the baggy green The friendly team at the Canberra Branch are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join Make‑Wish as a volunteer Communications Coordinator to change the lives of children with life‑threatening illnesses. As the Volunteer Communications Coordinator your main focus will be to oversee the branch's community engagement and promotion of Make‑Wish through local media, community social media and events. You will achieve this by: Promoting local and national Make‑Wish activities and events; Overseeing the use of the branch Facebook page, ensuring content is updated regularly and in line with Make‑Wish Australia guidelines; Working closely with the Melbourne based Marketing and Digital Engagement Team; Raising awareness by being an ambassador for Make‑Wish. When you volunteer in your local branch, you'll become part of the #WishForce helping children who are fighting serious illnesses by: Getting active in your local branch meetings (held monthly) Helping local wish families by capturing their child's unique wish and bringing it to life through all stages of the Wish Journey We know that your time is precious, so we will work with you to make sure you get the most out of your experience with us. Before submitting your interest to become a volunteer, it's important for you to please consider the following key requirements of a Branch Volunteer: A commitment of at least 12 months as a Branch volunteer to ensure consistency for wish families. A comprehensive background check, including interview, reference checks, a Working with Children Check (or equivalent for your State/Territory) and a National Police Check through our preferred provider. Complete online induction training within the first 6 weeks, so must have basic technical skills and access to a personal email address and a computer or smartphone/device. Regular attendance at monthly Branch meetings, held once a month on a weekday evening. The ability to attend meetings, wishes and fundraising events, so volunteers must have access to reliable transport.
