This role supports Defence programs across the capability lifecycle, implementing cybersecurity principles to maintain information assurance and compliance. Responsibilities Design, test and develop new systems, applications, and solutions for enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks. Handle security issues including firewalls, data traffic and network access. Perform analyses at all levels of system product, from concept to disposal. Use encryption, penetration, and vulnerability analysis and conduct information technology security research. Create and maintain system security requirements for activities such as operations development, security risk assessment, systems analysis, design, testing, certification, hardening, vulnerability testing, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity planning. Provide analytical support for security policy development. Integrate new architecture features into existing infrastructures and design cyber-security architectural artifacts. Embed forensic tools and techniques for attack reconstruction. Provide engineering recommendations and resolve integration and testing issues. Exercising judgment based on analysis of multiple information sources. Work independently with minimal guidance, impacting client operations or service activities within own and related teams. Run small projects or manage ongoing activities or objectives. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline. Approximately 3–7 years' experience in cybersecurity engineering, assurance, or governance within Defence or a highly regulated environment. Knowledge of Defence and international cybersecurity standards and frameworks (e.g. PSPF, DSPF, ISM, E8MM, CSAA Framework, Defence ICT / Cyber Procurement Supply Chain Risk Management Framework, DCwS Framework, SCCG). Experience supporting cybersecurity risk assessments, security design activities and system accreditation under Defence or equivalent frameworks. Understanding of secure system architectures, information assurance principles and cyber-risk management for capability lifecycle. Familiarity with SIEM, vulnerability management platforms, endpoint protection and secure configuration baselines. Experience developing and maintaining Cybersecurity Management Plans, Risk Management Frameworks and supporting documentation for Defence programs. Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Australian Citizenship required to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Current NV1 Security Clearance (or eligibility to obtain). Desirable Skills Experience supporting Defence acquisition and sustainment programs across capability lifecycle with focus on cyber and information assurance requirements. Knowledge of ISM, DISP cyber controls and international standards such as ISO / IEC. NIST SP Experience contributing to cybersecurity design, implementation and assessment within multidisciplinary engineering teams. Familiarity with digital engineering environments, secure system architectures and integration of cybersecurity within model-based systems engineering frameworks. Experience improving cybersecurity controls, monitoring systems and risk management for Defence or critical infrastructure systems. Exposure to contract and compliance management, including preparation of documentation and reporting to Defence clients on cyber matters. Benefits Flexible working conditions.
