Specialist I – Geospatial Data Operations Position at TomTom located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. What You’ll Do Acquire, analyze, and format spatial Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data used to create and maintain TomTom Mapping and Traffic products. Evaluate spatial data using GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and FME to determine data quality and feature types in line with business requirements. Develop and maintain relationships with data providers, partners, and local authorities. Maintain knowledge of local mapping regulations and industry connections relevant to Japan. Build and deepen understanding of TomTom’s processes, customers, and product ecosystem. Serve as a country‑sourcing and local‑intelligence specialist for Japan, leveraging language, geographical expertise, local legislation knowledge, and industry contacts. What You’ll Need University degree in geography, cartography, geomatics, geoinformatics, or related field, OR 2+ years of relevant GIS, sourcing, acquisition, or data‑handling experience. Valid driver’s licence for product test drives. Familiarity with common GIS software. Proficiency in Japanese and English (written and verbal). Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and networking skills. Ability to support and understand map quality for specified country/countries. Knowledge of geographic source‑data handling and licensing. Excellent problem‑solving and analytical abilities. Capable of working independently with minimal guidance from a Sydney‑based team.
