Base pay range A$140,000.00/yr - A$180,000.00/yr Our client is Australia’s newest player in the solar panel manufacturing sector. They are building a founding team based out of a new warehouse-office in Acacia Ridge Brisbane South. Position Overview This role is responsible for leading the full EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) function for the company’s PV module manufacturing operations in Australia. The position ensures compliance with Australian WHS legislation, environmental regulations, and industry best practices while building a strong EHS culture across the organisation. The role is a key part of senior management, supporting the company’s strategic growth and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Maintain strong working relationships with local regulatory authorities (e.g., SafeWork, EPA, Fire & Rescue). Monitor, interpret, and communicate changes in WHS and environmental legislation, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Provide compliance advice to senior leadership and support strategic decision-making. Coordinate EHS submissions, notifications, audits, and reporting as required by Australian regulations. Lead the development and implementation of company-wide EHS policies, procedures, and operational controls tailored to PV module manufacturing. Establish and review risk assessments, safe operating procedures (SOPs), chemical handling protocols, emergency response plans, and hazard identification processes. Drive EHS induction and competency-based training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors. Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s emergency response and crisis-management framework, including drills and simulations. 3. EHS Operations Management & Culture Building Lead and promote a proactive EHS culture across all departments, ensuring high engagement and accountability at all levels. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety, environment, industrial hygiene, and fire protection. Build and coach an EHS team, enhancing professional capability and operational effectiveness. Provide technical support to production, quality, engineering, and maintenance teams on EHS matters. Oversee incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and safety performance reporting. 4. EHS Management System & Standardisation Establish and continuously improve the company’s EHS management systems in alignment with ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety). Ensure environmental compliance related to waste disposal, emissions, water usage, chemical storage, and recycling processes typical of PV manufacturing. Drive ongoing performance improvement in sustainability, pollution control, hazardous materials handling, and resource efficiency. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree or above in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related discipline (flexible for exceptional candidates). 5-8 years of EHS management experience within manufacturing, preferably solar PV, semiconductor, chemical, or advanced materials industries. Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, EPA requirements, fire safety regulations, and relevant industry standards. Solid expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, incident management, and emergency planning. Familiarity with pollution control technologies, environmental monitoring, and management of waste, air emissions, and water treatment within a manufacturing context. Proven ability to work with regulatory bodies, manage audits, and interpret policies and standards. Desirable: Experience in implementing ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 systems and leading cross-functional EHS projects.
