About The Team Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. About The Role We are looking for a Domain Architect to join our Workplace Services team in Technology. This role will be responsible for defining and maintaining the architectural vision and roadmap for the domain, ensuring cross functional alignment with other Domain architecture, business strategy and platform evolution. You will identify domain-specific risks, opportunities and technical debt, and shape architectural responses that optimise long-term outcomes. As the Workplace Services team, our scope within the Enterprise Technology Services team is broad, which means this role is varied and has a big impact. From an Applications perspective we are accountable for strategy and end-to-end delivery of Enterprise Workplace Technology platforms and Services (including things like Microsoft 365 platform, AI personal productivity tools, Workplace Applications/toolsets, Software license Governance, Application packaging, client security). From Workplace infrastructure perspective, we define the Workplace as anywhere that “work gets done”, our infrastructure operational services/devices are used in our Supermarkets, Liquor Stores, Supply chain sites (Distribution and Customer Fulfilment centres) and Store Support Centres. Infrastructure services refer to our endpoint management platforms, builds, virtual desktop environment, mobility platforms and any hardware device that our customers or team members touch- and this is a lot Device types include checkout devices Checkout (POS, ACO, TACO), Weigh Scales, labellers, printers, mobility devices (Tablets, Scanners, PDTs, Wearables) and Media Screens. Our Delivery team is accountable for delivery of new stores and renewals across the Coles Network., as well as the project delivery of new initiatives and essential maintenance. Key Accountabilities In Collaboration with Workplace Services team, stakeholders and other architecture practises, define and Govern the Workplace Architecture Strategy. Translate strategic architecture into actionable designs and guide delivery teams through implementation. Ensure the workplace domain evolves with changing technology and employee experience needs Oversee lifecycle management of workplace platforms and tools to ensure stability, currency, and supportability. Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to introduce innovation while maintaining enterprise standards. Set and uphold architecture principles, design patterns and technology standards for the domain to ensure consistency, interoperability and compliance Review and provide architectural oversight for significant solution designs, platform changes and new technology introductions within the domain Provide guidance and direction to Solution Architects embedded in engineering teams, promoting alignment and reusability across initiatives Actively contribute to the enterprise architecture community, working with other domain architects to shape cross-domain integration, shared services and strategic platforms Ensure architectural decisions within the domain consider broader enterprise implications including security, data, scalability and maintainability Represent the domain in enterprise-wide planning activities, architecture governance forums and strategic initiatives Stay informed on emerging technologies, vendor trends and architectural innovations relevant to the domain and retail technology more broadly Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms and technologies that enable agility, reduce complexity and accelerate delivery Partner with product, engineering and data teams to explore and validate new approaches, driving experimentation where appropriate About You And Your Skills 10+ years in technology architecture roles, including experience as a lead or enterprise architect in complex, enterprise environment. Experience in a Retail environment desirable Proven experience defining domain or enterprise-level architecture strategies and roadmaps and aligning them to business priorities and enterprise goals Track record of leading architectural governance, design authority and standards definition in fast-paced delivery environments Extensive experience designing scalable, secure and integrated platforms or systems across multiple technologies and architectural styles Experience influencing senior technology and business stakeholders and facilitating consensus across competing priorities Experience in large-scale transformation, legacy modernisation and platform consolidation initiatives Demonstrated ability to work in federated or matrixed architectural environments, collaborating across domain and enterprise boundaries Deep expertise in architecture frameworks and practices such as TOGAF, Zachman or similar – formal certification is advantageous Understanding of enterprise integration, data flows, API management and security architecture What’s in it for you?
