About the Role We’re looking for a caring and experienced Disability Support Worker to support a male participant with a psychosocial disability and severe hearing loss. You’ll be helping him maintain his independence on a 1:1 basis, stay engaged in his community, and live comfortably in his own home. About the Participant You’ll be supporting a participant who: Has a psychosocial disability Needs support with day-to-day living activities Values community connection and independence What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day Living Help with household cleaning and shopping Maintain a clean and comfortable home environment Assist with day to day technology Support daily routines and activities Community Access Assist taking participant to the library, shopping, and other community activities Support social engagement and community participation Enable the participant to access services and activities they enjoy Communication Use clear communication that works with hearing loss Be patient and understanding, using clear and concise English Adapt communication style to meet the participant’s needs What You’ll Need Experience Previous experience supporting people with psychosocial disabilities Understanding of mental health support approaches Skills & Qualities Patient and non-judgemental approach Respectful and empowering attitude Ability to adapt communication methods Supportive and encouraging nature Commitment to promoting independence and choice Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent NDIS Worker Screening Check Current First Aid and CPR Certificate National Police Check Working with Children Check Drivers Licence with reliable vehicle What we Offer Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development Access to our innovative digital client profile system Supportive team environment with 24/7 backup Opportunity to make a genuine difference in people’s lives Work with a values-driven, health professional-led organisation Ready to Make a Difference?
