Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist The Paediatric Occupational Therapy service offers a high quality serviceto all eligible children aged from birth to school leaving age who live orattend school in Camden or who are registered with a Camden GP. Thepost holder will be allocated caseload depending on their experience andthe needs of the service. This post is rotational which means that thepost holder may need to rotate to a different post when the yearly reviewof rotations arise.The post holder will need to demonstrate a high standard of clinicalpractise and previous experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapistassessing the needs of complex children with DCD, ASD, developmentaldelay, physical disability and providing intervention in the classroom aswell as working with their carers and acting as a highly skilledoccupational therapy advisor in home and school environments. Main duties of the job This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist that is looking to develop their career in a team that provides a wide range of experience within a highly skilled and supportive team of professionals, that offers various CPD opportunities. The post involves working with school aged and pre-school children in a variety of settings including special and mainstream schools with a range of needs from mild to complex. Knowledge of the assessment and treatment of children with DCD, ASD and physical difficulties is essential. You will be working alongside a large and experienced team of Paediatric Occupational Therapists and there is scope for rotation within theChild Development Team and Social Care. Person Specification Royal Free World Class Values Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values Education & Qualifications Degree in Occupational therapy HPC Registration Member of RCOT Member of RCOT specialist groups - CYPF Evidence of CPD including attendance at appropriate postgraduate, specialist short courses relevant to paediatric OT Post-graduate training in Occupational Therapy Specialist areas such as sensory Processing, CO-OP Experience Previous experience in paediatric OT in a variety of settings including schools, community and or hospital To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Valuing Diversity, cultural practices and how to incorporate the needs of people from different ethnic/cultural communities into OT interventions To demonstrate knowledge of assessment skills and an understanding of the application of Occupational Therapy to meet the needs of children with physical/ behavioural disabilities Demonstrate the ability to plan intervention for the short-term and longterm effects of disability in accordance with the Borough's policies and procedures on service delivery and eligibility. Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of physical, behavioural, neurological and psychiatric conditions and an understanding of their impact on children and their families/carers. This can include impairments in areas of cognitive, perceptual, biomedical, neurological and sensory impairment, social communication skills Demonstrate awareness of the need to work in partnership with clients and their families/ carers. Demonstrate knowledge of effective time management and caseload management skills Experience of working with a range of children with special needs and relevant Occupational Therapy approaches Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a school setting Personal Quals & Attributes Empathetic with children and their parents/carers Flexible Other Knowledge of clinical governance and its implications for service, including experience of quality issues and audit Evidence of CPD including attendance at appropriate postgraduate, specialist short courses relevant to paediatric OT Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
