Primary objective Promote, identify opportunities and proactively manage the ongoing delivery of community work sites to ensure the effective delivery of opportunities for offender work experience in a framework of effective risk management. Key duties and responsibilities Develop, through active identification of opportunities, new community work sites for placement of varying risk levels of offenders, whilst maintaining in a timely and comprehensive manner the work site register. Prepare for and present professional Community Work information sessions for community agencies and groups at least twice yearly to promote understanding and engagement. Promote the Community Work Program to existing and potential participants through a range of mechanisms targeted at different locations and industry groups and to enhance offender’s workplace skills as required. Conduct on a regular basis work site visits to support Occupational Health and Safety and communication on program objectives and ensure adequate documentation and communication to support this activity. Assess and monitor offender attendance at community work, participate in the induction of new staff and offenders and take the necessary enforcement action required to ensure compliance. Liaise effectively with all levels of staff within the Division, the Department, external agencies and outside organisations to assist in the delivery of the unit’s activities. Selection criteria Essential Demonstrated experience in working with criminal justice or related programs and in the identification of appropriate work sites in the community that develops and delivers offender rehabilitation opportunities. Sound organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to provide timely coordination of key activities across multiple sites. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and develop and deliver information sessions to stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in problem solving and responding to risks in the work environment. Experience in the establishment and maintenance of solid working relationships and networks with local community stakeholders including skills to facilitate cooperation from a range of people and an ability to interact with people from diverse cultures. Demonstrated experience and ability in the use of computer applications in order to produce high level documentation and records for reporting. Desirable Understanding of the operations of field programs and projects in the community development environment. Further information Successful applicant must hold a manual Northern Territory Driver’s Licence and may be required to travel within regional and remote communities and camp out when required. Travel may be by means of road and air, including on outback roads in four‑wheel drives, light aircraft, and boats. The Department of Corrections has a Smoke Free Policy. Staff are not permitted to smoke anywhere on departmental premises, facilities or in vehicles, nor whilst working off‑site. The preferred applicant/s will be required to complete a pre‑employment questionnaire, and the successful applicant/s will be required to undergo a criminal history check (confirmed by fingerprints and name check) prior to commencement of employment.
