This is an opportunity for a capable HSE Advisor to take ownership of safety on a major $35m retail and fuel development in South East Queensland. You’ll be site-based, embedded within a structured project team, and trusted to run day‑to‑day safety autonomously. The builder behind this project is a long-established Queensland contractor with decades of delivery across commercial, retail, industrial, and mixed‑use developments. The Role You’ll act as the on‑site HSE Advisor, responsible for implementing and maintaining safety standards across the project while working closely with site teams and subcontractors. This role suits someone one step above junior level, confident managing their own patch, providing practical, site‑focused advice, and controlling day‑to‑day safety without constant escalation. The Offer Permanent role from day one Target start: mid‑February Critical safety role on a flagship project Clear pathway into senior HSE positions as the project pipeline expands Ongoing mentorship and exposure to experienced safety leadership Project allocation designed to reduce excessive travel (north Brisbane focus) What Winning Looks Like Safety systems implemented, followed, and embedded on site Risks identified early with practical controls put in place Clear, confident engagement with site teams and subcontractors Incidents investigated thoroughly with corrective actions closed out Minimal escalation required due to strong on‑site presence Consistent, professional safety leadership across the project Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all HSE policies, procedures, and management systems Operate autonomously across site‑based HSE duties Lead and facilitate site risk assessments Review and contribute to SWMS and JHA development Conduct safety inspections, audits, and site interactions Provide practical, site‑focused recommendations to reduce risk Identify and promote best‑practice safety standards Lead ICAM investigations and support incident reporting and corrective actions Act as the primary on‑site HSE Advisor Build strong working relationships with subcontractors and site teams Confidently manage day‑to‑day site safety You Cert IV or higher in Occupational Health and Safety 2‑5 years’ site‑based HSE experience preferred Trade background and hands‑on site experience highly regarded Comfortable operating independently and running your own patch Strong verbal and written communication skills Solid understanding of incident investigations and root cause analysis Confident coaching, educating, and influencing site teams Accountable, practical, and professional in approach Why This Role This is a chance to step into a high-ownership HSE role on a major project with a stable builder that values structure, consistency, and people.
