Position Overview The Service / Digital Support Technician is responsible for delivering technical service, digital support, and field‑based maintenance for AKVA's feeding systems, video solutions, control systems, server infrastructure, and networking equipment. The primary objective of this role is to maximise equipment uptime, ensure stable system performance, and support customers to achieve optimal production outcomes. The role involves both remote and onsite work, including installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer training. This is a hands‑on, field‑focused position suitable for an experienced technician with strong IT/networking capabilities and an interest in marine and outdoor work environments. Key Responsibilities Technical Service and Maintenance Install, commission, and maintain AKVA feeding systems, cameras, sensors, server equipment, networking hardware, PLC/automation components, and monitoring systems. Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, digital, and networking technologies. Conduct scheduled and preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime. Provide remote and onsite support across Tasmania and the Australasian region. Digital and Network Support Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot networks, switches, routers, wireless systems, VPN connections, and server racks. Support customers with AKVA digital platforms and software tools (excluding AI‑based monitoring). Assist with system integrations, data flow issues, firmware updates and network performance issues. Ensure accurate documentation of configurations, service actions, and system changes. Customer Engagement and Training Work directly with farmers, feeding operators, and technical staff to understand operational requirements. Deliver onsite and remote training in system operation and basic troubleshooting. Provide post‑service reports, status updates, and recommendations. Field and Marine Work Conduct work on marine barges, pontoons, vessels, and at land‑based aquaculture sites. Undertake lifting and movement of equipment as required (within safe weight guidelines). Travel frequently within Tasmania and as needed elsewhere in Australia and New Zealand. Participate in rostered on‑call duties. Skills & Qualifications Essential Minimum 2‑3 years of technical experience in IT networking, process control, or systems support roles. Practical skills in one or more of: networking (IP networks, routers, switches, VLANs), instrumentation/ process control, electrical or ELV systems, wireless technologies, camera and video monitoring systems. Demonstrated ability in diagnostics, fault‑finding, and problem‑solving in technical field environments. Ability to work outdoors, in marine settings, and occasionally in moderate sea states. Strong communication, organisational and self‑management skills. Australian driver’s licence. Australian work rights are required for this position. Desirable Experience on aquaculture sites or an understanding of fish feeding and biological processes. Familiarity with central feed systems, video feed control, or server rack setup. Boat licence and/or experience working on vessels or barges. Forklift licence or willingness to obtain one. Exposure to marine engineering, electrical trades, offshore systems, or digital agriculture technology.
