About the school The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two national schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business. The National School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney. The School of Arts and Sciences delivers a practical, ethical and industry‑focused education in diverse areas of study such as the liberal arts, communications and media, counselling and science, with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer. About the role The Lecturer in Computer Science will be responsible for delivering computer science courses in both face‑to‑face and blended learning environments at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The role includes supervising industry‑aligned courses and fostering collaborative partnerships with industry. Additional responsibilities involve undertaking academic administrative tasks, which may include moderating courses offered at other campuses. Active participation in professional engagement and cross‑disciplinary initiatives is encouraged. The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the leadership of teaching and learning, scholarship, and professional engagement within the school. Furthermore, the position requires demonstrating excellence in student engagement and community relations, as appropriate to the role. Key Responsibilities Teach foundational and advanced computer science courses, including operating systems, computer architecture, computational modelling, programming languages and compilers. Actively contribute to curriculum design and development, ensuring alignment with contemporary advancements in the computer science discipline. Provide leadership and management in course coordination and delivery, which may include supervising sessional academic staff. Support governance, marketing, promotion and administrative activities to advance the discipline, the school and the wider University. Qualifications, skills & experience Doctoral qualification in Computer Science or equivalent accreditation and/or standing. Membership with the Australian Computer Society (ACS). Proven teaching experience, including the ability to design and deliver computer science courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, particularly in areas such as operating systems, computer architecture, computational modelling, programming languages and compilers. Capacity to integrate innovative technologies and approaches into teaching and learning practices. Strong networking and collaboration skills to enhance the school's national and international profile in computer science or related disciplines. Commitment to scholarly, research and professional activities, maintaining and developing expertise relevant to the profession or discipline, along with experience in student recruitment (desirable).
