You will play a pivotal role in the ongoing development of cardiac services while working with a unique and high-risk patient population. Join a 200-bed regional referral hospital with an expanding cardiac service Opportunity to shape the future of cardiology services in Central Australia Live in Alice Springs – a multicultural hub surrounded by iconic natural wonders Salary package up to $510k (commensurate with experience) plus professional development opportunities The Role This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a supportive team providing high-quality cardiology services, including inpatient and outpatient care. You will help drive the development of cardiovascular services for the region. With a high prevalence of cardiovascular and rheumatic heart disease, your expertise will make a significant difference to patient outcomes. There is a high volume of echoes, stress echoes, transoesophageal echoes, and CTCAs, and Alice Springs Hospital is the only facility in the Northern Territory offering Cardiac MRI. The case complexity is high, and patients often require innovative, personalised management plans that consider their unique cultural and geographical backgrounds. Key Responsibilities Provide and supervise high-quality cardiology care for inpatients and outpatients, including complex cases. Contribute to service growth and innovation. Mentor registrars and junior staff, fostering professional development and a positive workplace culture. Participate in research, education programs for medical students, and quality improvement initiatives. Engage effectively with the local Indigenous community and demonstrate commitment to improving Aboriginal health outcomes. Requirements Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia (or eligibility) Fellowship or equivalent in Cardiology with experience as a generalist cardiologist, preferably with Cardiac Imaging skills Demonstrated ability to manage complex cardiovascular cases and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams Strong interest in Indigenous health and experience working with diverse populations Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills The Location Alice Springs is a vibrant and welcoming regional town, offering a relaxed lifestyle with excellent modern amenities.
