About the Role Blackbird is building a world‑class operations function to support our portfolio companies and founders. We are hiring a Business Operations Analyst or Business Operations Associate to cover a parental leave contract. You will work closely with our senior operations associates and analysts to become a world‑class investment firm. Location and Contract : Full‑time contract based in Sydney (Surry Hills) or Melbourne. Key Responsibilities Fund Operations: Contribute to end‑to‑end processes for investor onboarding, capital calls, distributions, and investor transfers. Investment Operations: Ensure internal controls and compliance processes (investment restrictions, background checks, etc.) before making investments. Investor Reporting: Prepare and automate reports for investors, including regulated superannuation funds. Portfolio Reporting: Collect information from portfolio companies and aggregate it into reporting formats. Compliance: Work closely with the team and advisors to ensure compliance with ESVCLP, AML/KYC, PFIC, and FATCA/CRS. Operational Processes: Monitor and improve internal processes; focus on process improvement and automation. Data Management: Improve Blackbird’s data collection from end‑to‑end. Key Controls: Ensure all key controls are fit for purpose and satisfy audit requirements. Position Requirements Preferable experience: Associate role with ≥3 years in operations, tax, accounting, banking or consulting, ideally in financial services or funds management; or Analyst role with ≥1 year experience. Hands‑on experience designing and implementing automation tools and efficiency projects. Basic knowledge of AML/CTF, ESVCLP regime, FATCA/CRS, and Australian or offshore tax regimes. Strong verbal and written communication; excellent stakeholder engagement. High ownership mentality, creativity, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to multitask under pressure.
