ROLE SUMMARY A PDHPE (Personal Development, Health, and Physical Education) teacher at Reddam House is responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate lessons to students from Kindergarten through Year 6. This educator plays a key role in inspiring students to embrace healthy, active lifestyles while nurturing their physical, social, and emotional well‑being. The position includes supporting the implementation of the PDHPE curriculum, coordinating school sports events and teams, and promoting a culture of health, fitness, and teamwork across the school. North Sydney – Fixed Term Contract for terms 1 and 2, 2026. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Curriculum Delivery: Plan, deliver, and assess engaging PDHPE lessons in line with the New South Wales PDHPE syllabus for K‑6. Student Engagement: Foster a supportive, inclusive, and active learning environment that encourages participation and personal growth. Physical Education Instruction: Teach fundamental movement skills, sport‑specific skills, and fitness concepts tailored to different year levels. Classroom Management: Implement effective classroom management strategies that support a safe and positive learning environment. Assessment and Reporting: Conduct ongoing assessment and provide constructive feedback to students; prepare term reports and communicate effectively with parents. Extracurricular Support: Participate in and contribute to school sporting events, extracurricular sports programs, and whole‑school activities. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in PDHPE and contribute to staff professional learning. Event and Competition Coordination: Organise and oversee school sports events, including tournaments and competitions; coordinate with other schools/clubs and foster positive relationships within the sports community. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE Skills & Experience Proven experience in teaching physical education and leading sports programs, ideally in a primary school setting. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple events, teams, and activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents. Demonstrated leadership abilities, particularly in coaching and team management. In‑depth knowledge of safety regulations and risk management in school sports. Ability to work collaboratively as part of the PDHPE faculty. Personal Attributes Enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about sports and physical education. Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities. Strong leadership qualities with a focus on teamwork and community. A commitment to promoting health, fitness, and personal well‑being. Resilient, flexible, and able to manage competing demands. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in PDHPE, Physical Education, Sports Science, or equivalent. Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., Bachelor of Education). Accreditation to teach in NSW. Current First Aid and CPR certification. Working with Children Check (WWCC). Additional Requirements Must be available to support extracurricular sports activities outside of regular school hours. Willingness to engage in professional development to stay updated with current trends in sports education. Provide lunch & playground cover and assist with pick‑up & drop‑off duties. Willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g., performances, parent‑teacher interviews, open days, etc.).
