Are you ready to take on a rewarding role where every step you take creates meaningful change?Step As One Disability Services is seeking enthusiastic, committed, and compassionate Forensic Disability Support Workers across the South Eastern and Western Melbourne Metropolitan regions (including City of Casey, Dandenong, Frankston, Mornington Peninsula). Clear and effective communication is essential, as this role involves daily interaction with participants who have diverse and complex needs, including behaviours of concern, mental health challenges, criminal justice involvement, trauma histories, substance dependence, and Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder. Role Responsibilities (including but not limited to) Provide personalised support to NDIS participants, including capacity building, in-home assistance, and community access. Assist participants to safely and confidently engage in their communities. Work in line with Step As One policies, including medication administration, work health and safety, privacy, and participant rights. Monitor participant safety and wellbeing, reporting concerns promptly to the Practice Lead. Complete documentation such as progress notes, incident reports, and goal tracking using the Step As One Client Management System. Collaborate with participants, families, stakeholders, and other professionals to support NDIS and SMART goal achievement. Complete participant-specific and mandatory NDIS training to maintain competency requirements. Contribute to a positive team culture through open communication, regular meetings, planning, and professional development/supervision. Provide support to other staff where needed. Take reasonable care for your own health and safety. Report any quality or safety incidents or hazards immediately to the Practice Lead. Carry out all duties in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. Preferred Qualifications Certificate IV in Child Protection, Mental Health, Disability, Community Services, relevant tertiary qualification OR experience in the field. NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willingness to complete). Current Driver’s Licence and comprehensive car insurance. Medication administration competency. Mandatory: Genuine passion for disability support. Clear, fluent written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong engagement skills, enthusiasm, resilience, and commitment to self-care. Understanding of Behaviour Support implementation and restrictive practices. Working With Children Check. NDIS Worker Screening Clearance. Preferred: Experience in disability support. Experience supporting individuals with disability who have had involvement in the criminal justice system. Experience with medication administration (or willingness to undergo training).
