About the role Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) is looking to recruit a qualified ecologist with a strong interest in applied conservation ecology to join our science team. The position plays a key role in implementing AWC’s science program at one or more properties and partnership sites in the region, focusing on ecological monitoring, re‑introduction of locally‑extinct species, and ecological research. The role has a significant field component and involves leading small teams in the field. Responsibilities Reporting day‑to‑day to AWC’s Senior Wildlife Ecologist South‑East, you will: Implement science programs across AWC properties and partnership sites. Lead field ecological monitoring and research projects. Manage and mentor small field teams. Report on outcomes and progress of ecological monitoring. Qualifications A higher degree (Honours or equivalent) in ecology, conservation biology or a related field is essential. Experience leading teams in the field and reporting on monitoring outcomes is highly regarded. Critical Competencies A strong drive to make a positive difference to the conservation of Australian wildlife. A willingness to work as part of a high‑performing team, learning from diverse stakeholders. A desire to contribute to and learn from partners, traditional owners, and community stakeholders. Licenses, Certificates and Training Valid manual Australian driver’s licence. Ability to drive a manual 4WD vehicle in difficult conditions. Relevant competency training may be required.
