Children’s Health Queensland are seeking a Patient Options Liaison Officer to consult and liaise with patients, staff, and private insurers regarding patient options for patients with private health insurance. This role involves actively assisting leadership in optimizing patient fee revenue and maintaining the financial integrity of the collection processes. About The Team The Revenue Control team is made up of both the Revenue Operations team and the Patient Option Liaison Officers (POLOs). The POLOs are responsible for identification and utilisation of privately insured eligible and Medicare ineligible inpatients, private patient revenue reporting and analysis. About The Role Provide a high quality, coordinated and customer focused liaison and option management service to patients and their families with respect to the election to use private health insurance. Provide education to CHQ HHS staff in relation to increasing awareness of revenue initiatives, including patient election processes, Commonwealth and State Healthcare Agreements, and identification of all potential patient revenue. Respond professionally and sensitively to complex customer enquiries and problem solve accordingly. Follow up potential fee-paying patients, complete necessary revenue documentation and liaise with relevant finance staff and agencies to facilitate payment of accounts. Provide data analysis in relation to admissions that will assist with data quality improvement objectives and liaise where necessary to improve the understanding and skill of staff involved in admission practices. Prepare written estimate of costs as required for Medicare Ineligible and Private Patients. Assist with the completion of essential admission paperwork and payment schedules for Medicare Ineligible and Private Patients. Complete and manage the daily Patient Election Form (PEF) audit requirements and patient eligibility checks. Capture, maintain and update HBCIS and Revenue Control databases. Updating details received on Patient Election forms and from patient charts. To achieve deadlines, establish work priorities, and organising of daily functions pertinent to the role in an autonomous environment while being able to work as part of a team in order to meet identified key performance indicators and manage workloads and issues in a rapidly changing environment. Provide training and ongoing support for colleagues to increase awareness of own-source revenue initiatives, including patient election processes, funding agreements and identification of all potential patient revenue. Position participates in a roster with span of hours from 7.30 am – 5 pm Monday to Friday, Saturday – Sunday 10 am – 6 pm.
