Senior Security Engineer

IMB Bank is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to take a leading role in shaping and advancing our cybersecurity landscape. As second-in-command to the Information Security Officer, you'll lead cyber resilience initiatives, champion security culture, and influence strategic decisions that protect our members and enable innovation. This role offers a clear pathway to senior leadership in security strategy and operations. What You'll Do Strengthen Our Cyber Security Framework - Implement, monitor, and continuously enhance governance, risk and compliance practices to meet APRA, CPS 234 and ISO standards Influence Security Strategy - Shape architecture decisions and guide technical teams toward proactive, secure-by-design principles Drive Awareness and Resilience - Lead targeted security education programs, champion cultural change and respond effectively to incidents Collaborate Across the Enterprise - Partner with Risk, Audit, Legal and IT stakeholders to align security outcomes with business objectives Innovate & Automate - Identify opportunities to streamline processes, leverage automation and advance IMB's cybersecurity maturity and technology stack. What You'll Bring Proven experience (4+ years) in information security, risk management or IT engineering with a strong understanding of enterprise environments Solid grasp of security frameworks and compliance standards (ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, APRA CPS 234) and how to apply them practically Hands‑on technical expertise across Microsoft Security Stack, cloud‑native security, networking and infrastructure controls Exposure to modern practices such as CI/CD pipeline security and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, or similar) to enable secure automation Practical experience in vulnerability management, SOC operations, and endpoint protection with a focus on proactive risk mitigation Exceptional ccommunication skills to translate complex security concepts into actionable guidance for technical and non‑technical audiences A growth mindset and passion for security innovation, continuously seeking ways to improve processes and resilience Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, etc.) are highly regarded Experience managing vendors or working with managed security services is a plus.
