Base pay range A$100.00/hr - A$120.00/hr Network Security Engineer – Fortinet SME (OT Environments) Sydney | 3 Days Onsite (Mascot) Initial 6 Month Contract with a View to Permanent We are seeking a Fortinet-focused Network Security Engineer with strong OT (Operational Technology) experience to join our professional services team. You will be delivering complex, customer‑facing network and security solutions and leading project‑based initiatives for a major enterprise client. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who is passionate about Fortinet security, comfortable working in OT and industrial environments, and experienced in consultancy engagements where you are client‑facing, engaging with stakeholders, and translating business needs into technical outcomes. There is a clear opportunity to transition into a permanent role following the initial contract period. What you will be doing Delivering customer‑facing network and security solutions across enterprise and OT environments Engaging directly with clients to understand business requirements and translating them into practical network and security designs Acting as a Fortinet subject matter expert across firewalls and security platforms including policy, configuration, optimisation, and upgrades Supporting and enhancing network and security services within OT environments such as industrial sites, critical infrastructure, manufacturing, and utilities Leading and contributing to project delivery including migrations, upgrades, hardening, and segmentation Collaborating with senior network and security engineers, architects and stakeholders to define and embed best practice across Fortinet and OT security Producing clear documentation, design artefacts, runbooks and standards for OT and IT network environments What we are looking for Strong hands‑on experience with Fortinet firewalls and security solutions such as FortiGate, with exposure to FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer an advantage Proven experience working in a consultancy or professional services environment in a client‑facing role Demonstrated ability to communicate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and clearly articulate how solutions meet business needs Experience designing, supporting or securing OT and industrial networks such as SCADA, PLCs and ICs environments Solid understanding of core routing and switching concepts, with Cisco experience highly regarded Background working in enterprise or critical infrastructure environments Good understanding of network security principles including segmentation, remote access, VPNs, IDS and IPS, and hardening A growth mindset and willingness to continually learn, stay current with Fortinet and OT security best practices, and pursue relevant certifications such as NSE and CCNP Security About the business You will be joining a consultancy of around 130 people, delivering major network and security projects, as well as professional services engagements.
