About the Role We are seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic with experience in smash repair and general mechanical servicing. You will be responsible for mechanical diagnostics and repairs on both accident-damaged vehicles and standard personal vehicles, ensuring all work meets safety, roadworthy and manufacturer standards. Key Responsibilities Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines, driveline systems and components, including faults caused by collision damage. Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering suspension components to assess both accident-related and general mechanical issues. Repair and replace worn, defective or crash-damaged parts, ensuring correct reassembly of all mechanical components and referring to service manuals as needed. Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement and engine tune-ups for both smash-repair and personal-service customers. Reassemble engines, driveline and mechanical parts after repair, ensuring proper installation and vehicle safety. Test, adjust and calibrate mechanical parts after repairs to confirm optimal performance, including suspension alignment and post-collision safety checks. Diagnose and test mechanical and electrical systems using computerised diagnostic tools, including scanning, resetting and calibrating systems affected by collisions. Inspect vehicles and, where authorised, issue roadworthiness certificates or outline required repairs to achieve roadworthy status. Attend vehicle breakdowns or urgent mechanical issues as required, performing on-site diagnostics or minor repairs. Qualifications & Experience Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent). Minimum 1 year of relevant post-qualification experience (smash repair experience preferred). Strong diagnostic skills with experience in both collision-related repairs and general servicing. Familiarity with suspension, steering, braking and driveline repairs. Current driver’s licence.
