What you will do In this role, you’ll lead a team of highly skilled engineers, delivering complex, enterprise-level solutions that solve real customer pain points. You’ll be hands-on in design and development, driving innovation across a variety of key projects and products. Join our Everyday Banking Domain in the Retail Banking Technology Division and help shape the future of banking. We\'re hiring a Tech Lead to join a new squad focused on solving real customer problems through innovative, end-to-end solutions—from customer onboarding and identity verification to international money transfers. Partnering with Silicon Valley Product Group (SVPG) , we\’re revolutionising engineering and delivery with a product-led, problem-first mindset. You\’ll work hands-on in product discovery and provide deep technical expertise to product and design on how tech can be used to better solve customer pain points. What we are looking for We\’re interested in hearing from people who: Architect at enterprise scale while still pushing commits daily; this is a role that keeps you close to the code and design. Demonstrate mastery in at least one programming paradigm like .Net, Java, or Typescript with hands-on experience in high-TPS distributed systems and complex domains modelling. Own the entire lifecycle —from product inception through CI/CD orchestration, automated testing frameworks, to production release management. Architect the future , not just the sprint—drive long-term technical vision and platform strategy that will shape CBA\'s engineering DNA for the next decade. Embody curiosity —the kind of engineer who debugs for fun, contributes to open source, and approaches problems with genuine intellectual hunger. Lead through code and mentorship — a role where your technical depth drives impact, not slide decks—responsible for guiding 3–5 engineers while staying hands-on in the codebase Bring natural leadership instincts that inspire and elevate others. Tech skills We’re looking for a Tech Lead who can guide a high-performing team while delivering hands-on engineering solutions and solving complex technical challenges. Experience in one or more of the following is highly valued: Backend: .NET, Java, or Typescript. Frontend: NextJS and React. Architecture: Deep expertise in Microservices, GraphQL (Apollo), RESTful APIs, and domain-driven design. Databases: Postgres, MongoDB, Neo4j. CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, Gitlab Runners. Container Docker and Kubernetes. Cloud: AWS, S3, SNS, SQS, EC2, Lambda, EKS. Security: OWASP Top Ten, ISO 27001. Bonus tech skills Any of the following skills or experiences would be a great bonus and help you stand out: High TPS payment systems and networks. Machine learning experience for recommendation and suggestion systems. Frontend design systems. Event driven architecture with Kafka.
