Mainstream Education Assistant We are seeking to establish a pool of Mainstream Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. At Melville Primary School (PS) our purpose is to educate, inspire, nurture and challenge in a supportive and inclusive environment. As an Independent Public‑School catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 we focus on holistic, inclusive teaching to ensure the needs of all children in our school community are met. The Role As a Mainstream Education Assistant, you will ideally have a passion for working with students and highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills. Suitable applicants will be committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students. You will work across a range of classrooms, so flexibility is highly desirable. Personal qualities include a commitment to team, solutions‑focused problem‑solving, fostering a growth mindset, adaptability and initiative. Under teacher direction you will: Assist in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of digital technologies. Implement individual or small group programs or demonstrations. Provide valuable feedback to support student learning. Assist the teacher with the care and supervision of students in out‑of‑class activities, school excursions and may work across classrooms. Assist with preparation of the learning environment by maintaining equipment and resources. Additional programs knowledge (Letter and Sounds, Talk for Write, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness and Origo Mathematics) would be highly desirable. Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start. Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
