We invite you to join our dedicated team at Gilson College as part of the Learning 4 Life Year 9 Experiential Education program We have 2 roles available that also come with a small teaching load as follows: 1 x Full time, 12 month fixed term contract for 2026 to include Learning 4 Life and Maths 1 x Full time, permanent role to include Learning 4 Life, Science and PE About the Learning 4 Life Program The Learning 4 Life program is a unique experiential education initiative designed to help students develop essential life skills through three core components: Bushwalking: Focusing on self‑awareness, confidence, and personal growth through outdoor adventures. (1‑day walk in term one, 5‑day camp in term one, 3‑day hiking camp in term 1, 7‑day Hiking camp culminating in 2‑night accommodation at Howmans Gap in term 4) Urban Studies: Introducing students to city life through group activities that encourage collaboration and exploration. (5 urban days spread out during term 2) Service: Encouraging students to step beyond themselves and engage in meaningful community service projects. (9‑day service camp, in cabin style accommodation, to the Warrnambool area in term 3) The program emphasises building positive relationships and a spiritual connection with God, aiming to nurture students' growth in the areas of Belonging, Believing, and Being. Key Responsibilities As a staff member within the Learning 4 Life program, you will: Facilitate Outdoor and Urban Experiences: Lead and support students during bushwalking, urban studies, and community service activities. Promote Personal Development: Encourage students to build confidence, resilience, persistence, and interpersonal skills. Integrate Learning: Work with students to apply knowledge from other subjects, such as PDHPE, Home Economics, Science, and Humanities, to real‑world contexts. Foster Relationships: Guide students in building strong, positive relationships with their peers, the wider community, and with God. Safety and Wellbeing: Ensure that all activities are conducted safely, with minimal impact on the environment, and in line with the school’s values and policies. Required Skills and Qualifications For Full‑time Staff: A teaching degree and VIT registration A Certificate III in Outdoor Education (off‑track) or equivalent qualification, or willingness to participate in online learning towards this certification. Experience in outdoor education, bushwalking, or related fields. A passion for Christian education and developing students spiritually and academically. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Why Join Us?
