About the Role The key purpose of the Statutory Planner role is to ensure the proper and orderly land use, development and subdivisions outcomes through education and facilitation in accordance with the Bayside Planning Scheme to deliver extraordinary places and liveability. You will be responsible for: Providing high quality technical Statutory Planning advice that meets the needs of the community, developers, landowners and Council. Processing Statutory Planning services, including applications and enquiries, within the timelines set in Team Targets or statutory requirements. Providing appropriate representation on behalf of Council at the Planning and Amenity Committee, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) and other public forums. Key Selection Criteria To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies: Ability to understand and interpret Planning and Subdivision legislation, the Bayside Planning Scheme and planning policy and principles at a high level. Ability to effectively project manage the processing of planning applications and/or types of planning decisions. Demonstrated ability to provide a very high standard of service to customers. Demonstrated ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, as well as planning process administration and records management tools. High level oral and written English communication skills including proficiency at letter writing. Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively in a team environment. Relevant practical work experience. Mandatory pre-employment requirements Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
