Building Officer – Prefabricated & Modular Housing (Bilingual English/Mandarin) Location: Sydney, with frequent travel to China We are seeking an experienced Building Officer to join our dynamic team in the prefabricated and modular housing industry. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of construction principles, exceptional communication skills in both English and Mandarin , and a passion for quality, compliance, and innovation in modern housing. About the Role As a Building Officer, you will be a critical link between our Australian head office and our manufacturing partners in China. You’ll oversee production quality, compliance, and adherence to building standards throughout every stage of modular home manufacturing and delivery. Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Australian and international standards. Liaise directly with Chinese manufacturers to maintain quality and adherence to established specifications. Oversee production timelines, materials, and workmanship across multiple supplier facilities. Prepare reports and communicate findings to the Australian management and compliance teams. Travel frequently to China (approximately three weeks per month) to supervise production and ensure consistent standards. About You Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken) is essential. Strong working knowledge of building practices and construction processes. Familiarity with the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards is highly regarded. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in building compliance, QA/QC, or modular housing is advantageous.
