Medical Oncologist – Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist The Trustee for the Byrne No. 2 Trust – Mackay QLD Job Type: Permanent position | Full‑time position Job Description Location: Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Services, Mackay Hospital and Health Service. Remuneration: Up to $528,463 pa. comprising salary $256,246 – $271,430 (L25‑L27) or up to $483,619 pa. comprising salary $215,078 – $249,046 (L18‑L24); employer superannuation (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%), attraction & retention incentive allowance, professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks pa., professional indemnity cover, plus overtime and on‑call allowances. About the unit: The Oncology Unit at MBH currently has three experienced part‑time medical oncologists. We provide inpatient ward rounds and daily outpatient clinical services, including telehealth to regional hospitals. Our day unit is staffed by trained oncology nurses and pharmacists and administers treatments five days per week. Your opportunity: This position offers the chance to join a busy oncology unit with dedicated medical oncologists, nurses, and allied health professionals. The right candidate can take on a leadership role within the team and further develop the existing oncology service, especially in clinical research. Responsibilities Collaborate with other oncologists in the clinical leadership of the Oncology Unit. Oversee the practice and training of oncology registrars and RMOs. Guide the care of oncology inpatients, ambulatory outpatients, and those receiving infusions. Work closely with pharmacy, day infusion staff and oncology nurses in the provision of chemotherapy. Participate in teaching junior doctors and medical students. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings. Provide consultative inpatient advice to other craft groups. Contribute to service development. This role reports directly to the Clinical Director of Medicine and professionally to the Executive Director Medical Services.
