About the Role Senior Youth Justice Officers (SYJOs) case manage young people who have offended and are subject to community supervision orders, as well as those at risk of offending. The aim is to reduce reoffending, protect the community, and support young people in adopting law‑abiding lifestyles, thereby helping to create safer communities. SYJOs apply research‑led, contemporary best‑practice counselling and interventions to support positive behaviour change in young people and undertake their duties with understanding of and sensitivity to diverse cultural groups. Key Responsibilities Case manage young people in the Western Australian youth justice system. Apply case‑management principles and practices, particularly for young people with complex needs. Conduct research, analytical thinking, and produce clear written reports. Collaborate with a team to achieve objectives, demonstrating autonomy and self‑motivation. Use computer applications (Excel, Word, Outlook). Qualifications and Experience Industry experience working with young people engaged in the WA youth justice system. Strong understanding of case‑management principles and practices for young people with complex needs. Good research, analytical, and writing skills (highly desirable). Team‑orientated approach with focus on achieving team objectives. Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook. Eligibility Must hold a current C‑class driver’s licence.
