About The Role Senior Youth Justice Officers (SYJOs) case manage young people who have offended and are subject to community supervision orders, as well as those at risk of offending. The aim is to reduce reoffending, protect the community, and support young people in adopting law‑abiding lifestyles. SYJOs apply research‑led, contemporary best‑practice counselling and interventions to support positive behaviour change. They work with sensitivity to diverse cultural groups. This Role Will Require You To Have industry experience working with young people engaged in the Western Australian youth justice system. Have a strong understanding of case management principles and practices, particularly for young people with complex needs. Display good abilities in researching, analytical thinking and writing (viewed as highly desirable). Have a team‑oriented approach, with a focus on achieving team objectives, while demonstrating autonomy and self‑motivation. Be proficient in computer applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Eligibility Must hold a current C class driver’s licence. To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions, you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia. For WWC positions, you must have a current Working with Children Check or successfully apply for one.
