About the role Senior Youth Justice Officers (SYJOs) case manage young people who have offended and are subject to community supervision orders, as well as those at risk of offending. The aim is to reduce reoffending, protect the community, and support young people in adopting law‑abiding lifestyles and thus helping to create safer communities. Senior Youth Justice Officers apply research‑led, contemporary best‑practice counselling and interventions to support positive behaviour change in young people. They also undertake their duties with an understanding of and sensitivity to diverse cultural groups. This role will require you to : Have industry experience working with young people engaged in the Western Australian youth justice system. Have a strong understanding of case management principles and practices, particularly for young people with complex needs. Display good abilities in researching, analytical thinking and writing are viewed as highly desirable for this position Have a team‑oriented approach with a focus on achieving team objectives, while demonstrating autonomy and self‑motivation. Be proficient in computer applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Eligibility Special conditions - Must hold a current C class driver’s licence. Permanent positions – To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia. WWC positions – In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, you must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
