About the Role The Environment Protection Officer contributes to effective administration of authorisations pursuant to Schedule 1 of the Environment Protection Act in a range of sectors and / or Radiation Management Licences in the Energy and Resources sector pursuant to the Radiation Protection and Control Act . The Officer will also contribute to advice regarding, and the administration of, the statutory requirements of the subject legislation. The role takes a risk-based regulatory approach to enable protection of the environment and / or the safe uses of radiation. The Officer will contribute to the development, management and maintenance of specialist projects, programs, strategies and policies where required. To be successful in this role, you will have : Knowledge of the principles of environmental impact assessment. Ability to interpret legislation and to apply agreed systems and processes in its application. Knowledge of the management of environmental issues from industry activity and development proposals. Proven ability to determine and achieve goals, work priorities and targets within given time frames with indirect supervision. Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of people from government and private organisations and the general public. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment providing assistance to assess, investigate and provide recommendations on a range of compliance and regulatory practice matters. Essential Qualifications, Knowledge or Experience Bachelor of Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Radiation Management or equivalent degree qualification, with a strong environmental focus. Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge or Experience Knowledge of the principles of radiation management as it relates to the Energy and Resources sector. Remuneration PO1 ($68,478 - $83,594) + 12% super added to your choice of super fund. Contract Multiple contracts available (Ongoing and Term) at full time (37.5 hours per week). Special Conditions This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework. A current National Police Clearance is essential. The incumbent will occasionally be required to travel to sites in country areas and interstate. The incumbent may be required to work out of hours and as the need arises. A current driver's licence is essential. Vaccinations required : Q Fever, Hepatitis A & B and Tetanus.
