Cyber Security Lead – 6 Month Contract Location: Kalgoorlie, WA Start: ASAP We’re seeking a Cyber Security Lead to drive operational security, governance, and compliance uplift across a local government ICT environment. This hands‑on role is the primary point of contact for all cybersecurity matters and requires strong technical capability, solid governance experience, and confident stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Monitor, detect, and respond to cybersecurity threats across the City’s ICT environment Lead incident response, security advice, and risk mitigation activities Ensure compliance with Essential Eight, ISM, OAG, PRIS and internal policy Implement and improve cybersecurity controls across cloud, infrastructure, and endpoints Manage security governance: policies, procedures, risk/audit registers, reporting Coordinate vulnerabilities, penetration testing follow‑ups, and remediation Provide cyber input into ICT changes and projects (secure‑by‑design) Deliver staff cyber awareness training and phishing simulations Prepare monthly security reports for ICT leadership and governance committees About You 5+ years ICT experience, with 3+ years in cybersecurity operations/governance Strong understanding of EDR/AV tools, vulnerability scanning, SIEM basics, M365 and AD security Knowledge of Essential Eight, ISM, PRIS or ISO 27001 Strong communication skills with the ability to explain risks and incidents clearly Able to work independently in a small team and manage competing priorities Current National Police Clearance Why Apply?
