About the role In the Solar & Storage team of our Project Engineering & Due Diligence section, you will get to be involved in the design, review, feasibility and assessment of renewable energy projects. This role will see you working alongside other solar and storage engineering specialists, and other teams within the Energy Systems landscape, such as the Wind, Civil, and Energy Storage Teams, to provide technical consulting services throughout the development, financing, procurement and construction phases of large‑scale solar farms, standalone storage plant and hybrid renewable energy projects. We help our customers achieve their project goals, by using our technical skills to conduct high‑quality analyses, evaluate risks, and provide robust answers to difficult questions. We’re predominantly engineers with a knack for skilfully using and building tools and models to get the answers we need. Responsibilities of the Role Here are some of the other things we do, and it would be great if you already have experience with some of these tasks: Technical due diligence of pre‑construction through to operational solar and storage projects Providing assurance on project viability through pre‑feasibility and red‑flag assessments Developing technical specifications & providing assistance to clients for all aspects of solar farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction Developing, reviewing and executing Owners, Lenders and Independent Engineer scopes of work Getting out on site and undertaking inspection services for solar & storage projects Conducting greenfield site visits to appraise the characteristics of potential development sites Design support and feasibility studies for solar and storage projects Completion of performance reviews and evaluation of solar farm installations Designing efficient solar farms and BESS considering complex site constraints Assisting clients with procurement, including contract negotiation and tendering Non‑technical responsibilities Engaging with a wide range of clients, including developers and financial institutions, to establish how our capabilities can help answer their questions Developing compelling proposals that explain how our services can meet customer needs Working on multiple projects, managing own time to meet project targets Executing projects successfully through careful project management Producing comprehensive high‑quality written reports and other documentation for delivery to the client Explaining and discussing important results and outcomes from our work with customers or other stakeholders Conducting careful quality assurance checking of deliverables Performing mentoring of junior or less experienced colleagues Supporting the continuous improvement and development of group procedures Delivering insightful presentations to customers or other industry stakeholders Our culture We are a welcoming and supportive team who value the benefits and strength that come from diversity. About you The ideal candidate will have: Bachelor of Engineering or Science degree in solar or renewable energy or other relevant discipline (e.g. mechanical, civil, electrical engineering with relevant professional experience) Approximately 8 to 10 years of professional experience To work in Australia, candidates should have a Working Visa, Permanent Residency or Citizenship Knowledge, skills and experience required for the position Experience in the solar and storage industry Good organisation and time‑management skills Adaptability, and ability to cope with a wide variety of tasks Ability to produce clear written reports and communicate verbally in English Ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team environment Flexibility, adaptability and creativity Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel Nice to have Solar farm and/or BESS construction Technical due diligence of solar farms and/or BESS for acquisition or project financing Providing Owners Engineering and Lenders Engineering services for solar and/or storage projects Solar plant design and layouts (ideally using AutoCAD & PVCase or similar) Solar resource and energy assessments (including use of PVSyst) Project management skills and experience Conducting mentoring of less experienced colleagues Experience with building and maintaining professional relationships with customers Experience in developing proposals for work, including budgets, appropriate contractual terms, and undertaking negotiations on scope and price with customers Physical abilities Normal office environment, involving regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing and reaching Some domestic and international travel to other company office locations, site locations, client offices and conferences Occasional work outdoors including site visits, travelling by car up to six hours and walking on uneven terrain may be required Training and development The role will involve on‑job training as well as other training internally or externally. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate initiative and self‑motivation. Support, mentoring and training, as appropriate, will be provided by senior team members.
