Then this role is for you ABOUT EARLYED EarlyEd offers a wide range of professional experiences with a commitment to delivering services that reflect best practice developments in the disability, allied health and early childhood intervention sectors. Well-established: For 45 years EarlyEd has been supporting communities in Western and Northern Sydney (currently based at Merrylands and Kingswood, North Sydney and Forestville.) Each staff member has a base centre which helps you build strong local community connections. Range of experiences: EarlyEd has been operational under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for many years. It also attracts funding from other government departments and grants which creates opportunities to take part in the community activities. ABOUT THE POSITION The role will utilise and develop your skills and knowledge in speech pathology while using family centred and capacity building practices. It provides you with opportunities to work collaboratively with a family's community in a “Team Around the Child and Family”. In particular you will: facilitate the development of communication and social skills monitor and promote safe eating, drinking and feeding. support assistive and augmentative technology selection, applications, training, implementation and monitoring. support positive behaviour strategies promote the inclusion of children in community settings including early childhood settings, community activities, OOSH and school. EarlyEd's Transdisciplinary Services EarlyEd’s transdisciplinary approach includes the key worker role as part of team around each child and family. EarlyEd teams include special educators, speech pathologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, family support workers and program assistants. SELECTION CRITERIA Essential Approved qualifications in Speech Pathology Membership of Speech Pathology Australia Commitment to family centred practice Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills Current driver’s licence and access to a car. You will need or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check Note: The role will include being a Medicare provider with EarlyEd. Desirable experience (These are not essential as you will be supported to develop in these areas.) Experience working with infants, young children with delays/disabilities and their families Developing and delivering augmentative and alternative communicationsupports Inclusion of children in mainstream early childhood services and school settings The use of positive behaviour supports and the development of behaviour management plans Working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island (ATSI) Working with families and children with complex needs Community engagement and training Training and experience in delivering Hanen® programs – "More Than Words", "Talkability" and "It Takes Two to Talk" Paediatric feeding experience including "fussy eaters" and dysphagia SALARY and CONDITIONS An attractive salary package with fringe benefit The opportunity to buy back school holidays.
