Department of Health Victoria – Melbourne VIC The Senior Evaluation Officer (quantitative focus) is integral to supporting and contributing to evaluation projects within the Victorian Government (Department of Health and Department of Families, Fairness and Housing), ensuring the delivery of timely and high-quality outcomes. In this role, you will actively participate in the design and execution of evaluations, utilising fit for purpose quantitative methodologies to develop actionable recommendations that align with government priorities and budgetary constraints. You will work collaboratively with project teams and other departments to distil insights and tackle complex issues, providing practical, evidence-based advice that addresses local needs and operational realities. Your contributions will help inform decision-making and enhance the effectiveness of services. In this role, you will also be involved in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to the successful completion of projects on schedule. By staying abreast of new technologies, managing your priorities, and integrating feedback, you will play a crucial role in supporting the strategic and operational goals of the Victorian Government. About you: Experience/ Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in quantitative analysis, statistics, public health, evaluation, epidemiology, health and social sciences, public policy, economics, or another discipline with a strong statistical component would be preferred. Applicants with a tertiary qualification in other fields but with work experience in the above fields and experience in quantitative evaluation techniques would also be considered also suitable. Experience and expertise in program or policy evaluation, particularly quasi‑experimental and micro‑econometric methods like difference‑in‑difference, instrumental variables etc. Expertise and experience in economic evaluation and cost‑benefit analysis. Project management: The ability to prepare and submit schedules for projects, monitor performance against these schedules and deal with administrative problems that arise. Effective communication: particularly translating technical work to policy makers and managing stakeholders.
