About This Role The Area Manager II conducts activities which have preparatory or auxiliary character for the purpose of developing Hunter's business in an assigned territory. It collects and communicates information pertinent to business progress with the regional team and next level managers. The focus could include training, education and specification to contractors, distributors, designers, and government agencies. It may also provide technical support to distributors and contractors and focus on developing and supporting new product launches. It demonstrates behaviour consistent with Hunter’s values of Customer Satisfaction, Innovation, Family, and Social Responsibility. It is preferred that the Area Manager II reside in Brisbane or surrounding area to best serve the territory. Essential Job Functions / Tasks Plans and acts strategically to maximise Hunter's exposure, sales, and success. Facilitates demand for Hunter products at a variety of levels to assist in achieving distribution goals. Acting as a local intermediary, informs management of events, territory occurrences, and other pertinent information. Supports customers achieving their goals, by keeping them up to date on all products purchased and providing product training as and if needed. Has an individual budget available to achieve business goals. Manages expenditures within budget, saving money whenever possible, and seeks approval for items or events outside of allocated budget. Executes customer training programmes, trade shows, and promotional events in assigned territory. Directs field service and support as required, whether by phone, e‑mail, or onsite customer visits in assigned territory, which can change from time to time. May advise on warranty policies and procedures in line with company policy. Assists in collecting data for forecasts and market data reports, such as product lines, prices, distribution, and policies from competitors. May alert management of potential customer credit problems and recommend credit line adjustments as needed. May support making recommendations on product distribution changes as and when necessary. If necessary, develops relationships with irrigation consultants, landscape architects, municipalities and local government agencies and visits to explain Hunter products and features for specification on projects. Travels as needed throughout Queensland by car or air. A passport is required for occasional international travel. Education / Training Required and Preferred Bachelor’s degree or equivalent four‑year degree in business administration, marketing, landscape architecture or ten years equivalent‑industry and technical experience. Experience Required and Preferred Minimum of ten years of professional business management, installation, or technical support experience within the irrigation industry. What You Bring Knowledge of commercial channels, pricing, marketing, and distribution models within the industry. Effective specification and presentation skills, with the demonstrated ability to attain goals. Ability to explain the features and benefits of Hunter products. Ability to conduct training and educational programmes. Technical knowledge of company and competitor products. Ability to perform field service, troubleshoot irrigation systems, and recommend solutions. Knowledge of finance and budgeting processes. Ability to prepare budgets and manage expenses within budget. Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English or regional languages. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships and to provide a high level of customer service and support. Ability to travel extensively, live in a strategic location within the territory, and work flexible hours. Basic computer skills with ability to use Windows programmes and to perform word processing, spreadsheet, and database management on a personal computer. Valid driver’s licence and driving record sufficient to meet requirements to be insured by company. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport. Fluency in languages commonly spoken within the region. Knowledge of regional business and cultural practices. Irrigation Association (IA) Level II certification with additional Level III certifications is preferred. Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills.
